New Reality TV Show Makes Things More Interesting In the Dark

ABC has recently released a new hit reality show called "Dating in the Dark," where three single men and three single women move into a house with no light. The purpose is to demonstrate that looks often do not matter when forming bonds with the opposite gender, and these connections can be made based on personality instead. When couples are unable to see each other, their bonds become based on personality alone, making the love more stable and deep than many who simply marry a pretty face.

It may be difficult to imagine forming a bond in complete darkness, but the show attempts to let contestants know as much of each other as possible. Partners are allowed to communicate with each other through the Internet at any time, and there are times at which contestants can see what their match brought into the house. For example, if a contestant finds a novel in his or her partner’s suitcase, it is a good indication that he or she is into reading. The first episode also featured a sketch artist who drew sketches based on each contestant’s idea of what his or her partner looked like. This allowed each contestant to know what his or her match thought about him. The second episode provided an interesting twist that required the men to prepare a meal for their women and for the women to send their men a message.

Naturally, the end of each show must result in the partners seeing each other for the first time, and it is this that is often the most exciting part. The audience is able to see the full reaction of each contestant, which may range from pleasant surprise to downright horror. This revolutionary new way of dating shows how bonds can be formed based on personality, and it does not take good looks to meet the perfect match.

We all think we know what we’re looking for in a partner: Tall, dark and handsome… But surely you wouldn’t be so shallow as to rule out the potential love of your life on something as transitory as looks?

A spot of shirt-swapping then helps guide their attraction as they get a proper whiff of each other’s pheromones. Based on theses two sensory experiences, they each decide who they want to go it alone with on a first date in the dark room

Daters are then given a free choice as to who they’d like to meet again, their original choice, or their compatibility match. By now, all have begun to form an idea of what their potential love interest looks like physically, and sketch artists work alongside each dater to produce an artist impression of their date.
